At That Old Thing, our interior design services are an extension of our brand philosophy: thoughtful curation, timeless pieces, and environments rich with history and character. Curator Jaquela Ransom offers personalized interior styling and design for both private residences and commercial spaces—from full-home furnishing to boutique layouts, retail merchandising, and specialty concept development.

We specialize in:

Sourcing Specialties

Jaquela sources country-estate pieces from across the globe, including:

  • Vintage art, pottery, trunks, rugs, and lighting

We do not source mid-century modern or contemporary modern styles.

2. Rate Structure

Hourly Design Rate

$65/hour

This rate applies to:

  • On-site walk-throughs
  • Space planning
  • Mood boards and concepts
  • Sourcing time
  • Vendor coordination
  • Styling appointments
  • Installation supervision

Flat-Rate Project Packages

For clients who prefer an all-inclusive structure:

Single Room Refresh — Starting at $350

Includes layout plan, sourcing list, styling guidance, and up to 4 hours of design time.

Full Room Design — Starting at $850

Includes full sourcing, mood boards, layout, product list, and installation day styling.

Whole-Home Furnishing — Starting at $2,500

For 1–3 bedroom homes; price includes concept development, full sourcing, and installation guidance.
Does not include the cost of furniture or décor.

Business Layout & Merchandising — Starting at $1,200

Includes layout redesign, customer-flow analysis, merchandising strategy, and visual styling.

3. Travel Fees

  • Within Tehachapi: No travel fee.
  • Outside Tehachapi radius (20+ miles): $0.65 per mile.
  • Out-of-state projects: Flat travel agreement to be quoted.

4. Purchasing, Sourcing & Budget

  • All furniture, décor, and materials are purchased by the client.
  • A sourcing budget is set with the client before purchasing begins.
  • A 50% design retainer is required to begin sourcing.
  • Purchases made through That Old Thing may qualify for designer pricing when applicable.

5. Payment Terms

  • Hourly projects: Billed weekly, due upon receipt.
  • Flat-rate projects: 50% non-refundable retainer to begin; remainder due on installation day.
  • Additional hours beyond included package time are billed at $65/hour.
  • Invoices are delivered electronically.

6. Cancellations & Rescheduling

  • Consultations may be rescheduled once at no cost.
  • Retainers are non-refundable due to planning time invested.
  • Installation days canceled within 48 hours incur a $75 fee.

7. Client Responsibilities

Clients agree to:

  • Provide accurate measurements or allow on-site measurement
  • Communicate changes or needs promptly
  • Approve all purchases prior to ordering
  • Be present (or have a representative present) on installation days

8. Design Aesthetic

By booking with That Old Thing, clients acknowledge that Jaquela’s design style is rooted in:

  • Heritage and country-estate pieces
  • Earth-rich palettes
  • Natural materials
  • Layered textures
  • Old-world and Spanish-influenced charm
  • Rustic and mountain-inspired elements
