Antique English Jacobean Revival Carved Oak Library Writing Table by Hobbs & Co. London

Regular price $1,695.00

Bring timeless English craftsmanship into your home with this antique Jacobean Revival library table by Hobbs & Co. of London. Constructed from solid oak, the table features richly carved apron details, dramatic barley twist stretchers, carved Green Man masks at the feet, and an original embossed leather writing surface with decorative gilt border.

A brass maker's plate reading "Hobbs & Co. London" and "Machine Made" remains attached, dating the piece to the turn of the 20th century. Two concealed side drawers provide convenient storage while maintaining the table's clean, symmetrical appearance.

The table retains its original character with age-related wear and a rich patina to the oak. Original gilt-tooled leather writing surface displays an attractive aged patina, with scattered scuffs, scratches, and minor staining consistent with over a century of use. The leather remains intact and presents beautifully, with the decorative gilt border still well preserved. The carved wood frame shows areas of age-related cracking and breaks, including separation along portions of the carved trim and at carved corner elements, as pictured. There is also some separation between the tabletop and base that becomes visible when the top is pulled or lifted. These areas appear consistent with age, use, and movement of the wood over time. Despite these condition issues, the table remains very strong and substantial overall and does not feel fragile. Please review all photographs closely for the most accurate representation of condition.

Perfect as a library table, executive desk, writing table, or statement center table.
