Vintage Glass Fishing Float with Rope Netting & Barnacles

Regular price $149.00

A remarkable maritime find, this oversized vintage glass fishing float carries the unmistakable character of a life spent at sea. Its deep sea-green glass is enveloped in weathered rope netting, with clusters of naturally formed barnacles, shell deposits, and marine encrustations still clinging to its surface.

The contrast between the translucent green glass, sun-faded rope, and chalky ivory barnacles creates a beautifully sculptural piece. Areas of exposed glass reveal rich variations in color, while the irregular knots, frayed fibers, and accumulated deposits lend an extraordinary sense of history and texture.

Once used to keep fishing nets afloat, glass fishing floats have become sought-after decorative objects, particularly those retaining the distinctive traces of their maritime past. This example is especially captivating for its substantial size and abundant barnacle formations.

A statement piece for a collected coastal home, antique sideboard, library, or nautical-inspired interior. Displayed alone, it offers the presence of a found maritime artifact, requiring little else to make an impression.

Condition: Vintage condition with significant weathering consistent with prolonged marine exposure. Features attached barnacle formations, shell deposits, surface residue, and aged rope netting with visible fraying, discoloration, and irregularities. These characteristics are integral to the piece's appearance and have been preserved. Please review photographs carefully.
